BaliAshramYoga 2016 Preview
Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves in disbelief. By the time you read this, we will already be in 2016 and, with huge thanks to our many yoga workshop, retreat and repeat attendees as well as supporters, friends, well-wishers and all those teachers and Ashramites who have worked very hard to make our yoga initiative possible!, we will be in our SEVENTH year of operation.
Same as last year, in 2016 we will be offering the Retreats of Dynamic Hatha Vinyasa(8 Day/7 Night) and the Workshops of Ashtanga Vinyasa Immersion and the Hatha2Ashtanga (both 5 Day/4 Night). Never to stand still, in September we will also introduce a variant of our Dynamic Hatha Retreat by including an Ayurvedic practising teacher Ms. Claire James to share the classes which we are really excited about (and we are working on pushing our horizon even further in early 2017, all very exciting so stay tuned!). The international teaching personnel is switched around a bit as we introduce a new but very experienced talent in Ms. Sian Pascale, while others will be taking well earned breaks from the rigours of past travels. We also reduce the frequency to allow the Ashram and its hard working members a little more 'time out' from the demands of hosting the yoga retreat and workshop (with one eye on building work/maintenance we may need to embark during the year). However, the things that make a retreat or workshop with us so compelling remain unchanged...
We are all still deeply committed to bringing sublime yoga to its equally sublime natural home - our unique familial-atmosphere, living and breathing Gedong Gandhi Ashram with its rustic and timeless ambience set on this exquisite finger of land flanked by a natural spring lagoon and the ocean, and watched eagle like by a centuries old sacred temple, majestically perched on the adjacent hill. But there also lies the paradox. For all the serenity that is the Ashram, it is also literally a mere few steps from the fine collections of massage/spa/shops/eateries and other services of the very much understated, thriving center of the Candidasa village. This escape-clause option 'just-in-case' things get too much (bear in mind even too much of a good thing can suffocate), so it's good to know that you will not just be 'stuck' in a remote, middle of nowhere monastery or something, and that a 'time-out' option is always there. We feel that this is liberating and quite important and soothing to one's equanimity when attending a proper 'retreat'. Then there is our our serendipitous proximity to a number of Bali East's relatively 'less trodden' temples, water/palaces and trekking hill-mountains, to mention a few (to be fair one must make allowance of additional nights to the retreat or workshop's full program to explore some of these) which surely makes a visit compelling for any discerning yogi on his/her journey!
